Zack Steffen, USA international and Manchester City’s goalkeeper has reportedly tested positive for covid19 and has subsequently been ruled off from the world cup qualifiers matches.
Earlier on, he missed the openings with El Salvador in which they left with a point after they drew with El Salvador. He will also be missing out in the match with Honduras in the world cup qualifiers and Canada in the CONCACAF qualifiers too.
A statement released by the US Soccer said “Steffen’s positive result was confirmed through rigorous serial testing in accordance with US Soccer’s COVID-19 protocols,”
“After his initial positive result, Steffen was isolated and contact tracing was initiated by US Soccer’s medical staff.”
US Soccer said another member of the US delegation had also tested positive and has undergone the same protocol.
“All potential contacts – players and staff – have tested negative in multiple tests since Steffen’s initial positive result and are cleared to participate,” it concludes.
Zack Steffen, Academy boy of Manchester City, maintains the second choice goalkeeper position for the former premier league champions club.
We wish him a quick recovery.
