Ex-France defender Jean-Pierre Adams dies after 39 years in coma

Former France international, Jean-Pierre Adams has passed away in the early hours of Monday 6th of September 2021 after spending almost 4 decades in coma. He died at 73 years of age.

The ex-defender was born in Senegal but emigrated to France at a young age, where he started his professional football career.

He played for French clubs like Nimes, Nice and Paris St Germain before entering into coma in 1982 having been administered a near-fatal dose of anaesthetic before a routine knee operation.

The unfortunate medical error kept him in coma since 1982, and he was taken care of by his wife Bernadette before his passing.

Bernadette said While he was still alive although in coma, he could still “smell, hear, jumped when a dog barked .”
