The Wire actor, Michael K Williams, was found dead in his Brooklyn home by a relative inside his apartment in a Williamsburg high-rise. Police who arrived at the scene were said to have recovered drug paraphernalia.
An autopsy to determine the sudden demise of the actor is yet to be conducted, however an alleged drug overdose is being investigated. It was previously reported that he might have died from heroin overdose, however, two senior NYPD officials told NBC New York that fentanyl is a possible culprit.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid, similar to morphine but is between 50 to 100 times more potent. It can cause death when taken in high doses or when combined with other substances.
The police are on a mission to track down the person who supplied the late actor the drugs.
An official reports from the police read that: “NYPD detectives are conducting an investigation into the origin of the narcotics cops found at the site of the actor’s death over the weekend.”
Six days before his death, Williams had made a cryptic post in his Instagram page. By posting a video of Tracy Morgan telling fans ‘Don’t cry for me. OK’, he was probably imploring his fans to not cry for him.
