Netherlands international captain and Liverpool’s defender, Virgil Van Dijk has reported to being 200 per cent fit to his manger, Klopp, after he limped off the field following an ankle issue.
During the world cup qualifiers match with Turkey on Tuesday, following a high challenge from Halil Dervisoglu, the Dutch captain in pain, limped off the pitch in the latter stages of his country’s 6-1 World Cup qualifying win.
Speaking about his fitness as they prepare to meet Leeds on Sunday, Klopp insisted that the incident has not hampered Van Dijk’s fitness in the slightest way.
“With Virgil, that was obviously a scary moment, you can imagine,” he said
“I sent him a message after the game, ‘Are you alright?’ ‘Yes’. ‘100 per cent?’ ‘200 per cent’. ‘Come on, send me a video of you without limping…’ ‘I’m only limping off’.
“So he called me from the bus and said, ‘Boss, I’m fine!’ I said, ‘Why are you limping then?’ He said, ‘My wife asked the same!’ So, yeah, that was a bit of a tricky moment but apart from that, no, all fine [for the other international players].”
