An alleged debt by Sao Paulo to one of the most decorated players in football presently, Dani Alves has resulted to a split.
It’s official confirmed that Dani Alves was not present for training on Friday in protest over unpaid wages.
As sporting director Carlos Belmonte announced on Twitter: “We have made the decision and we have informed (manager) Hernan Crespo, that Daniel Alves will no longer be part of the team,”
“Sao Paulo is bigger than one man,” he further wrote.
A whooping amount of 11 million reais (almost 1.8 million euros) is being owed by the club to Alves.
Although Sao Paulo recognised the debt and last week tabled an offer, it was vehemently rejected by Alves, as he wanted a full payment.
The 38 years old footballer has played for big clubs like Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain amongst others.
