Following the end of the international break which also brought the world cup qualifiers matches to a halt, normal clubs games resumed yesterday Friday September 11th.
Lorient have beaten ligue 1 champions, Lille in the first match after the international break. A 2:1 final score gave the Lorient’s side the deserved 3 points gap.
This loss has left Lille in 10th place ahead of hosting German Bundesliga highflyers Wolfsburg in their Champions League opener next week.
“It’s an unacceptable defeat. We have to do better, show more determination.” , Jose Fonte, Lille Central defender said in an interview after the match.
A first goal at the 7th minutes from Lauriente from the Lorient’s side gave them a head up to winning the game, however, an equalizing goal via a penalty spot by Yilmaz at the 25th minutes brought the two teams to a draw.
With the game heading for a draw, Vincent Le Goff picked out the tireless Nigerian, Moffi who escaped his two markers to secure the winner in the 86th minute.
