Ajax in their champions league opening match mercilessly dealt with Sporting Lisbon as they thrashed them to 5:1 win at their home in Portugal.
This win saw Ivory Coast striker Sebastien Haller marking his Champions League debut with four goals.
The 27th year old Ivorian International striker joined Ajax from West Ham for a deal of 22.5 million euros in January after netting 14 times in 54 outings for the Londoners, scored in the 2nd, 9th, 53rd and 63rd minutes respectively.
Haller has been making a remarkable impact both at home and away. He netted the ball twice in a space of nine minutes as his home team met with Cameron in the world cup qualifiers match, and beat them to 2:1 win.
“I still don’t believe it. It’s kind of a dream. I couldn’t expect more than this. I am just happy and trying to enjoy tonight,” said Haller.
“I just tried to be not too emotional because being so young and playing these kind of games it’s a dream, so I was just focused on doing my job, focusing on the other team, tactically, physically and today I thank to my team-mates for all this,” he concluded.
Ajax are trying to make their mark in this season’s champions league.
