Speculations have been making waves over an alleged ‘Cold War ’ between Nigerian actresses, Toyin Abraham and Funke-Akindele Bello. Toyin has however, made an attempt at clearing the air.
Toyin through a recent radio chat, admitted that she’s “cool” with Funke, referring to her as a ‘senior colleague’.
“She’s my senior colleague and she’s someone I respect a lot. So I don’t know what people are talking about. You know, a lot of people don’t understand that we are colleagues, not family, so you cannot be talking to all your colleagues,” Toyin said.
“We talk, we follow each other, If I see her I greet her. But a lot of people do not understand that we are working in the same industry and you don’t have to be my friend. Just forget about social media, forget social media.”
Toyin’s comment can clearly be related to a recent social media outburst by fellow actress, Iyabo Ojo over a certain ‘Funke.’
Iyabo had some week ago, on an Instagram post, accused ‘Funke’ of paying a blogger to trash Abraham’s new movie, The Ghost and the Tout Too. Neither Toyin nor Funke reacted to Iyabo’s accusations.
Toyin Abrahim started acting in 2003. She has produced, directed, and starred in several Nigerian films over the years, including Alani Baba Labake and Ebimi ni.
During the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards, Toyin was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Yoruba Film titled Ebimi ni, alongside Joke Muyiwa, who was nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Yoruba Film titled Ayitale.
Based on her acting career, Toyin has also been called upon by politicians to campaign for them. At one of the programs for Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid in 2015, the actress said she was prepared to die for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on whose platform Jonathan is contesting.
Toyin is married to actor, Kolawole Ajeyemi, with whom she welcomed their first child in August, 2019.
