Will Smith speaks on open relationship with Jada Pinkett, says marriage isn’t prison

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star, Will Smith has opened up about his unconventional marriage to Scream 2 star, Jada for the past 24 years.

Smith said during an interview, that the marriage has never been conventional at all. According to, him, their marriage started off as monogamy but later evolved.

“Jada never believed in conventional marriage … Jada had family members that had an unconventional relationship. So she grew up in a way that was very different than how I grew up,” he said.

“There were significant endless discussions about what is relational perfection? … And for the large part of our relationship, monogamy was what we chose, not thinking of monogamy as the only relational perfection.”

The 53 years old actor recalled and admitted that Jada wasn’t the only one to have extra marital relations throughout their marriage as he recalled her escapades with August Alisna

He recalled having intentions or sort of dreamt of having alot of ladies around him, naming Halle Berry as one of the actresses that he was attracted to.

“I don’t know where I saw it or some s**t as a teenager, but the idea of traveling with 20 women that I loved and took care of and all of that, it seemed like a really great idea”

“And then, after we played it out a little bit, I was like, ‘That would be horrific. That would be horrific.’ I was like, ‘Can you imagine how miserable?’”

Speaking about Halle, he said “It was okay to think Halle is fine. It doesn’t make me a bad person that I’m married and I think Halle is beautiful. Whereas in my mind, in my Christian upbringing, even my thoughts were sins.” he concluded.

According to Smith, he believed that it was the ‘unconditional freedom and love’, with some doses of honesty that helped sustained their Union amidst extra marital issues.
