Alec Baldwin who is a co-producer and actor of the movie Rust, who allegedly accidentally shot two persons while on set, has finally broken the silence.
Director of photography Halyna Hutchins lost her dear life while Joel Souza who was in an ICU was later on released upon recuperating.
Alec released a statement over the ugly incident which occurred on Thursday while on a movie set filming the Western on a 2,000-acre ranch in New Mexico.
He said: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.
“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”he said.
He’s so distraught and sobbing while caught on a camera in front of the police station.
According to a statement released by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s office, Hutchins and Souza were shot when the prop firearm was discharged by leading man Baldwin.
He was invited, questioned and discharged without any charge as investigation are still going on.
As was gathered, the movie has been suspended indefinitely as the set is under the police lock till further notice as an official statement from the Rust movies stated.
“The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones,” a spokesperson for Rust Movies Productions LLC said in a statement.
“We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation,” they added.
“Counselling services” are also being provided to “everyone connected to the film as we work to process this awful event”, the spokesperson stated.
