Billy Porter, American actor, singer and author, has apologised to Harry Styles after previously lashing out at Vogue Magazine for having Harry wearing a dress on the cover of their magazine.

The 52-year-old American actor, Porter took issue with 27-year-old singer Harry when he featured on the cover of the December 2020 issue of the US magazine while wearing a dress.

Billy Porter famously wears dresses himself – frequently turning heads on red carpets by donning extravagant frocks while appearing at A List events.

With a tune of being sorry, Billy has now taken a step back from his argument to highlight he was angry with the Vogue editors’ decision to put Harry on the cover of the magazine in a dress, rather than the star himself.

“The first thing I wanna say is, Harry Styles, I sincerely apologize to you for having your name in my mouth. It’s really not about you. The conversation is not about you,is about the editors.” Porter said while appearing on Late night with Stephen Colbert.

“Now that’s a lot to unpack. I’m willing to unpack it sans the dragging and cancel culture of the internet because I do not now nor will not ever adjudicate my life or humanity in sound bites on social media.”, Bully continued.

Porter defending himself on his statement against Harry Styles, went on: “I’m ready to have it and I’m sorry I really felt bad about my comments, Harry. I didn’t mean no harm. I’m a gay man, We like Harry, he’s cute and handsome.”

The 52 year old American actor dropped a secretive story of him being HIV positive, thereby breaking 14-year silence

“I created the conversation [about non-binary fashion] and yet Vogue magazine editors didn’t still understand my point by putting Harry Styles, a straight white man, in a dress on their cover for the first time”, Porter told the Times.

Billy Porter also added that “he’s not dragging Harry Styles, but he is the one you’re going to try and use to represent this new conversation. According to him, he doesn’t really care about that, he’s just doing it because it’s the thing to do, because he just have to do it, not that he really wants to.

“This is for me Billy a politics and also my life. I had to fight my entire life to get to the place where I could wear a dress to the Oscars and not be gunned now. All he has to do is be white and straight.”

Porter commenting on wearing a dress himself, told Vogue: “I think if you get something that you feel amazing in, it’s like a superhero outfit,I don’t see something bad about that, but that doesn’t really matter.

“Clothes are there to be worn, have fun with and experiment with and play with… What’s really exciting and fun is that all of these lines are just kind of crumbling away.”
