The Brazilian, who plays exciting football that entertains fans, will have to miss out on their meeting against their biggest CONMEBOL rival Argentina.
It was announced by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) that Neymar picked up an adductor injury, and will have to miss out on the tough encounter against Argentina.
The Brazilian national team already been assured of a place in Qatar, following their win, will meet Argentina in San Juan on Tuesday, with a win for Messi’s men all but guaranteeing World Cup qualification.
Having come off the bench last time against Uruguay trying to make an impact, Messi will surely start for the Copa America champion against Brazil according to head coach Lionel Scaloni.
It is sad to announce that, Brazilian superstar and Paris Saint-Germain team-mate Neymar, who teed up Lucas Paqueta for the winning goal against Colombia, will not be involved because of a thigh injury.
“After training at the Palmeiras Football Academy this Monday morning, athlete Neymar Jr. complained of pain in the adductor region of his left thigh,” the CBF said.
“The star having complained of pain about the situation and because there was not enough time to carry out complementary exams, the technical committee chose to preserve the player, who will not travel with the Brazilian team’s delegation to San Juan, location of Tuesday’s game against Argentina.”
Argentina and Brazil will have to meet for the first time after the Copa America final, after their previous meeting at Sao Paulo was cancelled due to COVID Issues.
