Pedri Gonzalez Lopez becomes the Barcelona second current player to win the trophy for Europe’s best player aged under 21

Pedri Gonzalez Lopez who plays for Spanish Giant FC Barcelona as a holding and attacking midfielder, has taken the world by surprise, showing his abilities towards the ball.

Having performed at top levels, and still under the age of 21, he was outstanding in many ways, thereby winning the young player award 2021, with 199 pointy ahead of second placed Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund and England international who plays as a midfielder and winger.

During the race for the young player award, the young Spanish player was unstoppable, showing his class and level, game after game.

The FC Barcelona midfielder won the prestigious award presented each year by Italian sports paper Tuttosport to the best footballer aged under 21. The prize will be awarded in a gala event to take place in Turin, Italy on 13 December.

Even being able to curtail injury problems, games after games he has been able to play at top level of football, playing more minutes than any FC Barcelona player during the 2020/2021 season.

He took many by surprise to be able to adapt to the top level of football, been well positioned and accurate,played 53 matches for the Spanish Giant FC Barcelona,Only Bojan played a half century of Barça games at a younger age.

Adding his international obligations and Caps,he played a total of 73 matches in a calendar, while representing Spain in Euro 2020 and Tokyo Olympics, where he was a silver medallist, he played more games than anyone else in Europe’s top leagues.

In football it’s not about the quantity, it’s all about the movement, quality and been able to absolve pressure, Delightful passing, exquisite dribbling, magnificent positioning, magical combinations, quick decisions, goals and defensive work, this player has it all.

Barcelona greatest ever player and legend in the person of Lionel Messi,the Argentine was Barça’s first winner of this accolade in 2005. However, Cesc Fàbregas (2006) and Kun Agüero (2007) also won the trophy, albeit with other teams at the time.

Pedro said he was fortunate to take over from the world hottest young striker in football, Erling Haaland who plays for Norway and Borussia Dortmund. He has also become the first player ever to be nominated for all of the Ballon d’Or, Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy in the same year. Can anyone stop Pedri from going on to even greater things? It’s unlikely!

Confessing how he felt when been announced as the winner, he said: “I felt so happy and excited to be honoured with this award.”

It will be a surprise package for the Spanish fans, who have watched Pedri work himself into FC Barcelona starting eleven, and also played a pivotal role for Spain in both Tokyo Olympic and Euro 2020.

Unfortunately for the young Spanish player, who’s yet to kick-start this campaign due to injury, he said he’s very happy to receive the award, 2021 being one of the best years of his football career.
