The prolific Bayern Munich and Poland striker Lewandowski, known for his good techniques in front of goal, has been in a top form for years, but for the last two years now, he has been in an excellent form.
The striker who was awarded the best striker at the Ballon d’Or awards night, and also runner up to Lionel Messi the Ballon d’or winner, has raised speculations of switching club during the summer break.
According to AS in Spain, Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi has been told by the Bayern Munich forward that a move to the Spanish giants, Real Madrid should be considered ‘a priority’.
But also, according to the publication, the desire, zeal and willingness to play for Real Madrid hinge with Madrid interest in Norway striker Erling Haaland due to age issues.
Haaland is also expected to be on the move in the summer and his mooted £64m release clause has all of Europe’s heavyweights on alert.
The Polish striker is hopeful that the move will be possible, as his agent Zahavi also represents David Alaba – who left Bayern for Madrid last summer.
Earlier in the week there were speculations that the Bayern Munich striker controversially missed out on winning the Ballon d’or due to some unexplained circumstances.
In his acceptance speech on Monday, Messi paid tribute to the Bayern Munich star – who won the award for striker of the year – and said that he deserved to win the scrapped 2020 Ballon d’Or.
According Messi, “Robert you deserve your Ballon d’Or. Last year, everyone was in agreement to say that you were the big winner of this award.”
The Argentine hopefully thought that the France football will honour him with his 2020 Ballon d’Or. “We all believe you deserved it and I hope you can have it at home,” Messi added.
Though he felt bad about losing the award to Messi, Lewandowski was gracious in defeat, saying on Twitter: ‘Congratulations Leo Messi.
The striker also extended his Congratulations to all nominated players.
“I won Striker of the Year Award and no Player can win an individual award without strongest team and loyal fans behind him. Thank you for your support,” he said.
By next week the Bayern Munich striker will be up against Barcelona, whose main aim is to win at Munich to be sure of qualification.
